The new Continental SportContact 5 in 225/40 18 92Y XL is now available from mytyres. Could be a good one. Approximately £129.

Unfortunately, they are more often than not, out of stock.

Let's play devil's advocate.

The Continental SportContact 5 MO 225/40 R18 92Y is available now for £113.21 from Tyre Traders.
MO means Mercedes approved. It is the same as the non MO version and is approx £11 cheaper than that one.

Non MO version:

The Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 in 225/40 R18 92Y is available from Tyre Traders for £114.50 .

From my various contacts in the tyre industry, the Continental is the better tyre overall and is quieter than the Goodyear.

my 197 had sportcontact3 XL fitted and they're a great tyre.

haven't had a chance to test the bridgestones my car came from the factory with yet though.

only thing with continental is they don't seem to last as long as michelin etc but they're a brilliant summer tyre.

Just fitted Michelin PS3 XL 92Y on 225/40/18s to replace Bridgestone RE050A XL 92Y after 27112 miles on the front from new.  At the small sum of £284.80 Ouch! - GTD. 7mm tread from new?

old thread revival but....

this months EVO has a tyre test and the sport contact 3 comes out the winner again.

he bridgesotne did well having best lap time, dry handling but wet handling was average and high road noise and rolling resistance let it down

the hankook came 2nd which was  surprise and goodyear 3rd.

when I'm due new rubber i will go for the conti's again unless i can get the bridgestones cheap.
