Cabriolet alarm problems!!!
« on: 15 November 2013, 19:16 »
Hi!
I have a 1.8, 1997 golf cabriolet which i first bought back in 2006, sold it on and then re-acquired it last month! When I first purchased it my insurance company would not offer me insurance unless it had a cat 1 alarm, so I had a clifford concept 650 d3 fitted.
I hated the alarm straight away! The salesman/installer was more interested in trying to convince me to buy remote start and auto boot opening than anything else, the key fob is tacky faux carbon fibre, my windows do their own thing after the install and it immobilizes itself every time you blink.

So my question... Now I have got the car back how can I 'degrade' the system so it is purely an alarm with rcl?
Can I program a mk4 key fob to do this?
Or am I best to just remove the whole thing and forget this sorry affair?
If I do remove it, can I re-install the original vw stuff? If so what items doi need to purchase to do this?

I have already lost my rag and cut the siren out of it so it doesn't make that ridiculous chirping sound every 5 minutes...

Somebody please help meeeeee!!!
