Power differences 115, 130 etc
« on: 21 December 2014, 23:04 »
I have had a PD115 for about a year, today I got a PD130 that apparently had a remap, which I read up tends to put it to about 160? However he wasn't sure if it had had one or not as it was supposedly before he got it.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's more powerful than my 115, for sure! But I was expecting more going from a 115 to potentially 160bhp,

*How can I find out if it's actually had a remap and if so what it's putting out? And will it be expensive to find out?

*Anyone here more familiar with what sort of a difference I should be seeing?

If you got access to VAGCOM / VCDS then you can log boost

If it standard you should feel it dropping off just after 3k rpm. A tidy remap will keep pulling towards the redline

Otherwise stick it on a rolling road.  The 130 makes 170bhp + all day long provided its been mapped properly

May as well do a follow up, the car had a standard map after all, and the remap has caused me to re-asses what really makes me happy. I might just drive my car full time and not bother with friends, woman, jobs etc :D

I got mine mapped for £50. Bargain, he says gives it another 50bhp. Don't know anyone with dynos etc, but it does 80mph in 3rd gear just before red line lol

It would do that standard as you cant change the gear ratios from a remap alone

£50??  :lipsrsealed:

I'd be interested to see exactly what's been changed in the file

Did an Ibiza with the 130 engine last week which had been maxed out in terms of boost and fuel; made for a slow car  :lipsrsealed:

Well, before I got it mapped Rhyso, I clocked 130 top end, maybe 140 if I was going down hill haha!

But since I got it mapped, had a little play that night with my mates scoobys, an hit 120mph with plenty to go lol.

I don't know much about cars to be fair, nice to have a sub back tho lol

I did more than that when my Golf was standard

Its not about how fast you go, its about how quickly you get there

As for your offer.... I wouldn't want to see you cry
