NASTY FUMES
« on: 31 March 2011, 22:11 »
Guys

i have noticed recently when im driving im getting some nasty exhaust fumes in the car, more so when i open the windows or sunroof, im at a point now where when i get out the car for about a meter around i can smell these nasty fumes, put it this way this morning when i got to work i was dizzy as **** i read on another forum that it was a beaded pipe that runs behind the engine but reading closer this was on the mk3

Can anybody help me before i die of carbon poisoning???  i have also noticed there is a bit of black smoke coming from the exhaust!!!

Is the exhaust blowing if not, then check all you breather pipes.

Had the exhaust checked a few weeks ago and it was fine, and I did check the breather pipes but as I say i heard there is one specific pipe that apparently runs under the windscreen just lookin for some clarification on whether it would be the same on the mk4,it seems like a real silly thing that's wrong but I can't get to the bottom of the problem.

Are you running a standard exhaust and is the tailpipe past the edge of the bumper.
