ch340 chip vagcom cables

I cannot get these ebay cables to work on windows 7. After much research it seems to be down to sh1ty new ch340 chip   used in the chinese copys.

lot people recomend to find old ftdi chip cables instead .. but these are people with bmw, toyotas etc

Not sure if same applies to vw guys?  Has anyone else had problem with drivers on cheapy ebay vagcom cables and windows 7?

With chinese copies I would not even trust the ones with FDTI chip... because fake cables have fake chips...

Try a RS232 based adapter, like the ELV VDA100 (cheap to buy as a kit off a german website). If your PC does not have a RS232 port then get a Brainboxes US-101 adapter (USB - RS232). Don't fall for a 5£ ebay USB - RS232 adapter... it won't work because they are rubbish.

The ftdi chip worked fine as i tried my mates there just a b1tch to get now.

 I managed making the ch340 cheapy crap to work on windows 7. Had to download a signature driver overrider and then install the driver so works now.

It will have to do.. i cant justify paying for full version i use it to scan for fault codes...cheap ftw
