I've recently become an owner of a mk3 Gti, and after some new car abuse and a track day, require some new tyres, the car is currently shod with Avon ZV1 which i find not very sticky plus rubbish in the wet. Anyone with advice please reply.

My Michelin Pilots seem pretty good, been driven hard for a few thousand now! although i heard Avon lasted well, too many wheel spins???

? i've put pirelli p500's on the front of mine and they seem good in wet and dry i prev. had on toyo proxy's i'd give them a miss the're a nightmare in the wet oversteer city ?hope this is of help see ya Richee

Trust me on this:

Toyo Proxie's are awesome. They do not grind down to quick, excellent in the ddry, excellent in the wet. I am that impressed with them i even had a set fitted on my wifes clio ??

I agree with Scotto:

I've had Toyo Proxes on my mk3 GTi and they were incredible. The car stuck to the road like sh*t to a blanket in the dry, and I didn't have nay problems in the wet. They lasted pretty well too - much longer than the bloke who sold them to me said they would.

I've Falkens on now and they aren't a patch on the Toyos - wish I'd have stuck with 'em. Ah well, ya live and learn...

Would have to agree as well with the Toyos. Excellent all rounder and the directional tread looks quality. Out of interest what sort of mileage have you guys got out of them. So far I have done about 8k and they are hopefully good for another 3 or 4k.......I hope! I find they wear more in the middle, although the tyre pressures I keep are what they should be. Put it down to the directional tread?

Well, I do about 30k a year, and I had the Toyos on for about 8 months. If you do the sums, that is around 20k miles! Incredible, but I swear it.
Of course, the majority of my 30k is on the motorway, so I'm not hairing around corners all the time, which would reduce the tiry lifetime I guess. I was well pleased with the 8 months.

I made sure I swapped them front-to-back after about 6 months, since the fronts wore down quicker.

ZV1's are o.k - with the right pressures - sure they slide a bit in the wet and dry, they don't last to bad - but VR6 luvin eatin 'em - best bit is the lack of road noise, make way for the V6 sound track !!

The Toyo Proxes sound like the get the forum seal of approval. Maybe we should get some sponsorship
