Title: My Rocco, Kermit!!
Post by: sveed1.8T on 30 March 2013, 17:32
I'm giving dub rides a go instead of a another dub project, as I like the idea of fellow members being able to openly voice their thoughts on things

As a lot of you know, I was unfortunate enough to lose my lovely mk4 earlier this month! I love the golf and have always owned one, but i have always let my eyes wander over the years, and the Scirocco has been a car that has always tickled my fancy! Well after some maths, and a journey to the bank, I realised that I could do something crazy and go and get the car that I had always wanted, since its release!

One long stuffy 6 hour coach journey down to Plymouth, and I was sitting in a Jaguar dealership signing the papers for my viper green Scirocco, which I have aptly named 'Kermit'! No points for guessing why?!

The spec is lovely, and I'm still finding out features that even the sales exec didn't realise!! Here is a list of it's credentials:

2.0 GT TDI 140bhp engine
DSG gearbox
Flappy paddles
Black leather heated interior
Black headliner
Auto wipers
Auto rear view mirror
RNS 510 Satnav/DVD player
Integrated Bluetooth
W8 light
Footwell lights
iPod connection
Flat bottomed steering wheel with controls
Cruise control
Dual climate control
Traction control
Adaptive chassis control
Rear privacy glass
18" Interlagos alloy wheels
Headlight washers
Scirocco door sills

It is gorgeous to look at, inside and out, and it's even better to drive!

If I'm honest, there are a few mods that I'll do, but I don't think anywhere near the extent of the golf!

Comments welcome :afro:

Very nice, I'm surprised that modifiers don't use this colour for their motors.

I've been meaning to do this since I bought the car, and seeing that the weather has been cooperative, I took my chance...

I'm the opposite, as I've never bought any vinyl wrap!

It's just halfords grey primer and metallic black paint. Nothing special, but provides the right look at a fraction of the cost of a bodyshop  Anything bigger, or more visible, and I think it would be unwise to rattle can it up though!

Time for a mighty update

There were a few little cosmetic things that I wanted to get sorted on the Rocco, that I felt would sharpen up the look. So I went from this...
To this.
And this...
To this.
And those famous last words of 'I'm not gonna do too much modding', well I got my hands on a Scirocco R exhaust. I took it over to my mate (who is the godfather of metal fabrication) and he welded on an adapter.
This is due to the R pipe work having a thicker diameter to that of the GT models. After angle grinding my back box off, I got the R back box bolted into place.
My god are the pipes wide apart  I ended up having to take a saw blade to the bumper, in order to accommodate the pipes!! It's a temporary measure, as I'm waiting for an R-line rear bumper to come up for sale. Anyway, here's the end product
Made an appearance at inters as well. Met up with a couple familiar faces, and met some new ones
For those that went, you would know how awesome the weather was! Anyway, here are a couple pics that I took whilst there...

And I even got my car washed, for free

On my list of jobs now for my bright green frog are:
-Front splitter
-Rline skirts
-Rline rear
-Interior dash trim hydroprinted
So only a couple things

Finally sorted out getting my personalised number plate switched over to the Rocco! Whilst I was at Inters, I invested in some German pressed plates, as the style has grown on me considerably. I also purchased some german number plate stickers to give that more authentic feel

I can also tick off one of the jobs I had previously listed. I sent my interior trim off to be hydroprinted. Now this will divide opinion, and if I'm honest, I was unsure to begin with, but now i'm loving it! Here it is...

SNAKESKIN!!!!!

I really fancied something different, as everyone with a Rocco appears to go down the 'piano black' route like the R model, or a lot of people in general go for carbon fibre effect  "Why snakeskin?!" Some of you will ask. Well, it's certainly not random... The paint code of my car is 'Viper' green. I'll leave it at that

I'm not offended by anyone that isn't keen on the snake print, as I knew it was a marmite mod! But for all those that do like it, thanks for your comments :afro: Got pulled over by the 5-0 the other night, as I had a headlight bulb blow, and the sergeant loved the snake print!

I've since bought a front splitter, which will be sprayed and fitted, as well as some Scirocco R side skirts. Looks like the modding bug is staying!!

Been a bit of movement on the Rocco since the last update...

I decided to give the wheels a bit of a refurb, as there was a bit of lacquer peel. It takes a bit of patience, and hard graft, but the results are extremely rewarding

I bought some R-line side skirts, as I didn't like the cheap looking black rub strips that VW decided to tarnish the Rocco with. By recommendation of Hoggy (off this forum) I took the car up to Evolution Paint Works in Carlisle, where they worked their magic. To say I'm chuffed with the end result is an understatement!!
And if that wasn't enough, I purchased a front splitter to finish the front end off. I initially bought a cupra splitter, as I was misinformed that they fit. Simply, they don't!! Unfortunately I am finding that mods on the Rocco are costing me more that on the golf. The splitter I bought cost me in excess of £120 :undecided: Looks spot on though!

When I uploaded the pic to photo bucket I thought that, but i can only put it down to the angle/shadow, as it's spot on in the flesh.

I had the whole passenger side sprayed, due to some c*nt keying my car :lipsrsealed: So I know that it's a match to the door and rear quarter  Who keys cars these days?! Especially out in the country!!

I have recently purchased my first house, and I need to free up some money to do boring stuff, like pay my parents back some dollar and pay for a new bathroom. I have uploaded an advert to Autotrader, of which here is the link..

I will upload an advert on this website with the full spec, if anyone is interested (or knows someone that is interested. Anyway, here are a couple pics of how he sits
