golf gti turbo temp gauge very high please help
« on: 17 September 2011, 15:03 »
Hi
Im new to the club and need some help advise on my 2004 53 plate golf gti turbo mk4 Aum engine code
I was at the car wash today gettin a wash and when i drove away about ten minutes lata i heard a beeping noise from my dash
and it said stop and the temp gauge was at the top so i stopped at the garage and checked the water which was fine so i drove home and looked on sites at what the problem could be.
I read that it could be the water pump so i removed the return pipe from the top of the header tank and it was returning fine
I also have hot air from the climate/heater inside the car
The twin rad fans work
its not using water or leaking and has not mixed with the oil so dont think its head gasket
What i did notice is the top radiator hose is hot and the lower hose is a lot colder
could the problem just be the thermostat ??? or is there a bigger problem ..
sorry for the long write just tryin to help with any replies
any help much appreciated
thanks

I think if the top hose is hot, then the thermostat may be open as the top hose is where it is, I think - I could be talking tripe there.

Also, no oil in the water doesn't necessarily mean the headgasket is fine. This hot top hose, is it alot harder than the others?

It could be your water pump, as they seem to go as the impeller becomes detatched from the spindle, then grabs again, but it usually grabs at idle - again, I might be talking tripe and not making any worthwhile contribution to your thread.
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.
