It looks cheap and unbranded
-
It says it should fit & does look like it would fit, but don't quote me, LOL!!
However it does go against my motto of 'You get what you pay for', though. I'd ask him if it was an oil based filter, as the oil has a tendency to clog up the MAF sensors on our 1.8 T's (don't tell him that bit, as you want an honest answer).

^^^^^^^^^ this is the only one id put in mine, i wouldnt put a subaru impreza that would muck my ecu up

i just got a piper cross panel filter but was unsure at first if there was any difference but after a good few runs i am feeling that my 1.8T is running better than ever giving more responsive throttle etc but has not affected mpg . cant complain really

that looks shocking quality (and I've sold some shi7 in the past!!).... and with induction kits.if you cant get a really good cold air flow it can make cars loose power and like some have posted here..panel filter and modified airbox is possibly best bet!
-
To be honest those kits do the job, I got a similar one on mine and it works a treat, just becareful about putting the cold air pipe on during this weather because it will scoop up some water and get dirty quick like mine (after 3 days)

What I would suggest is buy that kit and then buy a better quality filter and keep that red one as a spare like I have done! In the arch they sound the nuts but even below 2,500 revs if the filter is in the bay it gives a brilliant sucking sound!
