Gotcha.

Be interesting to see if the 245 is a detuned R motor, in the interests of only having to modify 1 lump for WLTP regs. Otherwise, why drop the non PP engine?

EDIT - My engine no is DLBA01****, I believe both 7 GTI & PP used CHHA****** and it appears the 7.5 has a different turbo.

The 245hp FL isn't a detuned R engine and it's probably got a different engine code due to it running the GPF, that's if its new enough.

Some interesting points made. So we think the 7.5 is the same engine and turbo as the 7 running different software?

How much power do we think a GTi can safely run? I wouldn't be after stupid power anyway as I don't drive it hard, just something to bring it to life whilst still keeping stock like MPG and reliability.

Unicorn Developmens in Stockport get good reviews on the 7R, BMW and Audi forums.

Not sure where everyone is from etc but what about a rolling road day? I've often heard that VW are reserved with their power outputs so would be interesting to see.

I've had a DTUK box on my car for nearly a year and a half now and with the exception of one blip (which DTUK sorted) I have always been very pleased with it. It may not be as tailored to your car as a remap, but it is certainly effective. The one which I currently have has bluetooth control so it can also be altered slightly in the car. Definitely worth a look.

Well we don’t know, its got a completely different engine code, has dropped the secondary port injection and there’s suggestions it has a different turbo. I haven’t got ETKA to prove this and info on the ‘net is scant. It’s all R focussed.

Stage 1 is circa 300bhp from most companies and widely seen as a safe bet for extra power without any extra stress.

APR or Revo got to be the most well known for VW.

As previously mentioned, there’s the BSR option which sounds appealing.

There’s a place in chesterfield who do rolling road sessions for around £60/70 but could probably get a deal if there’s more than a couple of people.
