Thanks!

It doesn't look too bad for a 14 year old car! Annoyingly I can see where I've missed spots on the alloys in the photos

Do you snow foam, if so what do you use as your Golf looks incredible?! And I'm sure that once you get that right everything else falls into place!

Jack.

There's always bits that get missed. Looks immense for a 14 year old car.

I do snow foam, never ever miss that step, no matter how pushed for time I am.  In winter I often do a double snow foam, as I did today.  It's about getting as much grime off before you actually lay a mitt on the car, to minimise swirling, which as you know is the bane of a black car.

I swear by Valet Pro advanced PH neutral  http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/foam-pre-wash/valet-pro-advanced-neutral-snow-foam/prod_1087.html

used with one of these - probably find a similar lance cheaper on eBay if you hunt around

nice to see a fresh clean car its worth the effort to stand back an look it all shiny :) thats what i do with my gti!

question ? do u find autoglym glass polish leaves a white dust as u wipe off ? i do leave to haze but always leaves a dusting for me

As others have said less is more - think that applies to most detailing products really. Product builds up on the applicator and becomes harder to remove the more you apply.

Thanks all for the comments - hate this time of year - 8 mile journey to work and can see the grime on the windscreen already

Car has done a lot of miles recently and in less than 2 weeks was looking gross. Couldn't stand looking at it anymore so got up early after my night shift this morning to give it a much needed maintenance wash.

Holy sh!t Dan.  Hang your head in shame. :embarrassed:  Sod waiting till morning, you should've got up in the middle of the night to clean it by the light of the moon.

Stunning turn around.  You've redeemed yourself.  Don't let it happen again.

That's what Lincolnshire and Cotswolds roads and wet wintry weather do! Bec if I had the light I might well have done it straight after work!!

No doubt it'll look like that again in no time but I'll try and savour the results for today at least!!

Although my car wasn't quite as filthy as some on here (!) it still needed a good spruce up. So, despite the rain, I managed to clean the wheels, then rinse, snow foam, wash and dry. Then I finally got round to trying out my Finnish Kare FK1000p wax which previously I'd only used to seal the wheels. The car is still benefiting from two coats of G-Techniq C2v3 but I thought a layer of wax wouldn't hurt. FK is really easy to apply (even when it's drizzling!) and dried quickly. Then wiped off with a mf cloth and buffed up with a second mf. I'm really pleased with the results, a deep red gloss and good reflections. I was considering buying a different wax for the bodywork but the thrifty side of me thought best use what I've got, especially since the tin size seems enough to wax the whole car regularly for years to come! Anyway, managed to get a few pictures in before it started tipping down

Lovely, lovely job.   TR looks so good when washed and waxed.

Be interested to find out how long your wax will last on top of C2v3.  I'm not convinced the two are compatible and C2 is designed to be used in conjunction with other Gtechniq products, so I can't see wax lasting very long on top of it, but would be good to hear your feedback.
