A fun car no doubt, not sure about the looks though. Think the current fast fords probably look better.
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

As with the previous one, I'd have one if I was 30, but I'm not. I'm 45.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Finally Ford have gone back to AWD - just a shame they haven't raised the bar enough. The Recaro seats and Brembo's are a nice touch and a nod to the mk1 Focus RS. Will be good to see it in the flesh.

No doubt they're very capable cars and probably great fun to drive, I genuinely despise the interior and exterior styling.  Its far too garish for my liking.  I know they have a large following, but I still dislike the mk5 Escort Cosworth for this very reason.  I was barely into teens when they were a must have, and whilst most my age loved them, I thought they were trying too hard.  The Focus will never attain the classic status as those past have for the fact that the syling whilst appealing in the 90s, is very outdated now.  Coupled with stupid paint colours, I'd certainly never own one.  At the end of the day its a Focus, a sheep in wolves clothing........

Sheep in wolfs clothing  love it!

But if this is a sheep, what is the (slower) 7R then? A sheep in sheeps clothing?

The difference is a 7R isn't trying to be something like a throwback from a 90s cover of MaxPower magazine.  The Golf still has an air of understated class. Is the RS quicker than the R?  We'll see in the real world but even if it is its only likely to be in a straight line. Ford aren't known for their 4WD systems so I think it'll take a lot to come close to the setup and handling of the R with the level of expertise at VAGs disposal.

I quite like it. If it had the interior of the golf I'd be very tempted. The Golf R is far too understated that they just blend in with the rest of the range. A hot hatch should be a bit shouty IMO. Perhaps the RS is OTT but it's going to stand out from the crowd. I hope when it comes to a mid-year facelift that VW make the R more aggressive especially from the front.
