Anyone tried this?
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1484504
Seems a bit "rough ar*e" for me.

its simple yet very clever.. i would pay for someone to do it not attempt it myself im crap at electrics lol

Do you not think that tricking the ecu into thinking that the boost is different than it actually is will mean that you run the risk of causing engine damage?
-
No read the link in the link that you provided it explains all the stuff that it does.. It is like a boost controller.. stock... 11psi.. 17psi.. it would work..
-
I did read the link, thought I understood it, you "clamp" the boost at a level just before going into limp mode no?
Thought a MBC was also a no-no on a 1.8t?
-
A boost controller is a no no but you are doing it in a different way to which a boost controller works..
yes so if you clamp the sensor and fool the ecu you dont go into limp mode.. problem solved..
-
What values would you use for a mapped car?
Also, take it you would need a mbc for this?
-
mbc ?? manual boost controller ??
You cant run a boost controller on a 1.8t at all whether mapped or not because of it being a recirc turbo.. will cause issues..
Im not sure on a mapped car to be honest..
-
I don't understand, how can you increase the boost otherwise?
-
your not increasing the boost your clamping it at a certain psi.. im lost..
-
I agree, the actual boost is "limited" but how is the boost physically increased? Is it like driving with no wastegate control? Sorry if you are lost, I am too
-
Just another version of a resistor mod. Messing with ecu signals is not a good idea imo.

The AUMs doesn't really have a boost table. It does everything based on specified load, which is made up from many sensor readings, temp and rpm. so the reading for load comes from air mass flowing into the intake manifold.
The only way to cheat a bit more power is use a MBC and add around 300mb (max) any more and you will get a call for limp mode and throttle cut. Unless your tuner has taken the KFDLULS (MAP for Delta pressure for overboost protection ) up from 400mb to 500mb+. If he has raised this map then in theory you can cheat a bit of boot and more power.
The lambda tables which go closed loop are based on many factors, which mean you can add more boost and still runs safe fuel/air ratios.

How would you do this?
Bypass the n75 with an mbc or put it between that and the tip?
Also setting one up, would you start fully closed and "inch" it open until you see actual boost 300mb higher than requested?
-
Is this not like driving into a road thats sign posted a dead end?

The best way to go is use an electronic controller with duty cylce, then just work the DC% up until the boost you want has been met, the good controllers have built in boost gauges.

apexi avcr ??
-
So don not install one before/in parrallell with the N75 and use this to bleed more air off than the n75 will do?
-
apexi avcr ??
Very nice bit of kit that.

mate has one in his 200sx and i love it get it with the gameboy controller even more fun.. gadgets ay
