High revving Driver
« on: 05 May 2003, 21:20 »
Ive got a 91 1.8 Driver normally it idles at 800-850rpm until i renewed the plugs, leads, air/fuel filter, dizzycap and rotar arm all supplied by German and  Swedish. Now the car idles at 1500 rpm. Any words of advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Tony

My Mk2 used to do that, what may be the cause is that the car may have been tuned with crap parts, therefore there wasd allowenced made for the crap parts, now you've put the proper parts in, it sort of made the engine run better, my advise is to get it Crypton Tuned - cost about 30 notes max, this should show an improvement......

Enjoy...

That normally the 'waxstat' on the carb.

Its about ?30 and controls the idle when the cars on choke. You can normall tell by losening the two securing screws either side of it. if the revs decrease thats what it is.
