Great photos guys!

Work have just bought me a brand new Cannon DSLR to use, love it soo much! I experimented with it a bit at the weekend, heres a few pictures, most are on auto mode, I did try manual, but it turns out I have forgotten almost everything I learnt on my photography course back when I was in college. Doh!
Polo the cat

depth of field and macro

the B/F (andy)

Full set here if anyone fancy's a gander! http://www.flickr.com/photos/23620293@N06/sets/72157614751352062/

I love the one of the Teasles DubCheryl!

Guys, here are a few Ive taken of my friends horse but the quality isn't very good! The light wasn't very good, just wondering if there is anything I can do with these ones to make them better? Ive edited them a fair bit but is there anything else I can do other than taking more pics?
