After a week of research I have found out what bluetooth module I think I need for the RCD310.

9w2 or 9w7. The topic really seems like a minefield.

Got my Torque Pro
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Torque-Pro-Elm-327-Bluetooth/dp/B01AC7I7BO

Now, here is a question, I installed the app, paired with the tablet and can see real time revs, engine temp etc

However, I had a red coolant warning because of a morning frost (pretty common I think) but when I choose scan for logged faults, nothing appears, this is thing working correctly?

I got this thing to catch any errors related to my locked injector on this thread.
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

And does it fit on both piston or rubber diverter valve

Thank you for the link. I forgot about Connects2.

A lot cheaper by the looks of it. Anyone had experience?

Interested in what you decided to go for. It does seem to be a minefield trying to match Bluetooth modules with MDI and radio - so many different codes and harnesses.

Changed the cruise control switch. It is the same as the mk5 - just a single stalk on my 2010 MK6. Original went faulty with an ! in the instrument panel. New one cost me £25 and an hour of my time to fit.

Wish it was that simple on my 2011. Doesn't have cruise control from factory but instead of just changing the stalk like on earlier cars I'd have to change both stalks and slip ring to retrofit it. Makes it way way more expensive than it would be to retrofit to an earlier car! Damn VW!

I actually bought a cruise control stalk ready to fit before realising I had the updated components. Luckily I managed to get the money back on eBay.

Had the same problem of twin stalks and clock ring with my 2011 Scirocco. It was a pain but at that time lots of cheap new spare parts from Czech republic.

Fitted a Bluetooth module and coded it. Gives me voice recognition for the phone for dialing and music

For anyone interested this is what I did.
Volkswagen 9W7 Bluetooth Coding for MK 6 GTI MY 2010
With this retrofit I am able to pair my phone with the car and use hands free to make and receive calls and use voice to control the phone. The phone book appears in the DIS and can be controlled via the buttons on the steering wheel. The microphone in the overhead console is used.
The original configuration that I have in the car (MK 6 GTI MY 2010) is:
RCD310 (DAB) radio part number 1K0 035 186 AB
MDI part number 5N0 035 342
Multi-function steering wheel with cruise control.
White DIS.
I installed an OEM Bluetooth module (wiring instructions are below the coding instructions)
Part number: 7P6 035 730 F
Initial coding in CAN gateway address 19: Bring up the installed list and tick 77 telephone.
Coding using VCDS for telephone address 77:
My coding: 0200000000010110

The multi-function steering wheel also needs re-coding address 16:
Original code: 0000532
New code: 0000732

The change of the code is required to activate the microphone button on the steering wheel as it was only a mute button originally. This provides voice recognition for the phone for dialing, music etc.
(Note that the socket configuration for the RCD310 and RNS310 are identical)
The total cost was £115.
I bought a harness from carsystems.pl  with postage was £35.00 The harness bought included all the wiring for the MDI and Bluetooth module as this did not require any extra wiring (It was plug and play and included SDS cabling for head units with voice control eg RNS510)
Combo Kabelset VW Bluetooth 7P6035730 + MDI 5N0035342 ► ULTRA Plug & Play SDS
Useful installation instructions at:
https://carsystems.home.pl/instrukcje/bluetooth%20golf%20VI.pdf
and at
https://www.carsystems.eu/bluetooth-wiring-connection-scheme-sds-functionality-how-to-connect,b18.html
The new cable for the MDI was routed through the central console alongside the front cup holder. I found it easier to remove the rear cup holder and surrounding trim to pull the cable through. The Bluetooth cable and microphone were routed as per the carsystems instruction.
The bluetooth module came from ebay £71.00
The microphone labelled as a Skoda harness on ebay was half the price of the advertised VW microphone and is exactly the same at about £7.00 and came with cabling that was not required.
