Front number plate surround
« on: 11 April 2021, 13:12 »
Hello All,

My number plates were looking a bit manky so decided to replace them both.

The black plastic surround that holds the front one on is cracked so I'd like to replace this aswell - does anyone know a good place to buy this from? Any decent alternatives to VW? Also, as was bound to happen, when I removed the holder the central part of the plastic pop-rivets that hold it in (the little pins that you push in) all fell into the bumper - typical! I'm assuming there's no easy way to retrieve these? (part no.26 in the diagram below) Again, where is a good place to buy these from? Not sure where people go for VW parts these days...

Thanks in advance!

From memory they're around £25 from your local Volkswagen part no. 5G0-807-287-C9B9, and then just ask about the pop rivets for it.

I wouldn't be concerned about the old rivet inners being behind the bumper either, bigger bits of dirt and stone get in there over time.

Thanks Willni. Yeah I'm sure they'll work their way out pretty quickly. Couldn't find an easy way to get to them...

Cheers

I actually took mine off and put the plate on without, I didn't like the look of the bulky surround.

Mine was just screwed on, no rivets etc simple screwdriver to remove it.
