Black vinyl trim
« on: 10 September 2008, 16:43 »
I've just bought a mk3 GTI and the once black vinyl bumpers, trim and rear spoiler have all faded a bit. Is there anything I can get to revive the black and get it back to what it once was?

I think you might mean peanut oil? Or maybe peanut butter if I want a tanned effect.

Argh, okay - I'll have to give that a go - I presume I then wash it off and apply something else?

As far as i know just put it on thinly u might need to wash it off a little but, asa more expensive option ive used autoglym bumper car which is good but doesnt last as long as id like it to.

IMO try some of this

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/zaino/zaino-z-16-perfect-tire-gloss/prod_476.html

Now I tried many many trim products (including peanut butter, groundnut oil, boot polish, back to black ete etc) and this does the trick for me. Restored greyish trim on my 7 year old Golf, and makes the tyres and trin on my GTI look like new. Put it on with a MF cloth, 20 mins later buff it up. Lasts about a month including weekly washing and withstanding rain showers. Lasts and looks a world better than peanut butter

You wont be dissapointed.
