Looking to buy a Mk6 GTi
« on: 20 February 2019, 12:50 »
Hi there folks! Im Daniel, from Portugal and im currently on a quest for a fine Golf mk6 Gti!

I’ve owned a few cars over the years, R5 GT Turbo, 205 GTi1.6, E36 M3 and now i own a DC2 Integra R and a Shogun/Pajero MK1 Vip and a 1998 MBenz C220 Cdi, that shall be replaced by the Golf. And here’s where the doubts begin.. what could you tell me about the reliability of the car? What sort of problems should i expect? Are high mileage(200.000 kms) cars a thing to avoid?

Many thanks in advance and best regards to you all.

Probably worth having a look at the thread at the link below;

and the Timing Chain Tensioner Failure ‘sticky’ at the top of the mk6 forum board;

2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)
Gone but not forgotten;
2016 Polo GTI; Blue Silk

2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

Mine has over 130,000 miles (209,000 kms) on now and has been very reliable. As always, condition and history are far more important than mileage. Threads above will give you the most common things to look for.

2011 GTI DSG 5dr, Tornado Red, 18" Monza Shadows, Heated Leather, RNS-510, MDI, Bilstein B16 PSS10 Coilovers, Ohlins DCC Cancellation Kit, Audi TT-RS Front Top Mounts, Whiteline 24mm Rear ARB, Michelin Pilot Sport 4, 034 Motorsports Street Density Engine and Gearbox Mounts, Audi R8 Red Coil Packs, NGK BKR7EIX, Millers 5W-40 Nanodrive
