235/35/19 on Brescia’s ??
« on: 16 December 2018, 11:45 »
Anyone fitted that size to 7.5” wheels instead of 225/35,either Brescia or Santiago?

I have the opportunity of having a pair of PS4S in the 235 size that are brand new never mounted, friend ordered them for his R and never used before theft, been sat in his garage for 4 months.

While I realise that size is better on 8”wheels  however I will soon need new boots on the front( currently 225/35 pzero) and was planning on either trying to find  some good n round SH genuine Pretoria’s or even going with the Revo or neuspeed lightweights, but I could go the replica route with either Brescia or Pret style which are 8” wide

Been thinking of changing the tyres on my CS Brescias to 235/35x19.  I reckon fitting them to 7.5 should be okay and I'd also be interested to hear other views on this.  Out of interest, how many miles have you got out of your original front tyres?

Trev,

Just coming up to 11k, and measured this week while having vw sort the warranty suspension creaks ( all good after some grease) at 3.5mm left.

BTW, only thing that puts me off going for PS4S is a bad experience previously on another car (my ed30 )I had 235/35/19 Mich PSS on 8x19 bbs ch and they were oversizeed ( width and height)compared to Conit’s that came off the wheels, so much so on the first compression in the road they caught the front wing arch liner screw and damaged the wing....not impressed considering I’d driven that road twice a day for a year and never had a rub ever

Makes a change from “can I fit 215 tyres on my 9.5” wide concave ebay specials?” threads

The new tyres are only 1cm wider than the originals so won’t be massively bigger.

Only two issues I can think of.

Firstly you’ll have to declare that you’re running wider tyres than standard to your insurance, sometimes they can get sniffy about these things.

Secondly is tyre sidewall roll. I’d guess at just 1cm wider it won’t be too much of an issue but fitting wider tyres can result in the sidewall rolling sideways a little too much making handling and turn in a bit woolly.

Hi there,

I ran my Edition 30 on Michelin PS3's size 235/40R18 tyres on the original Pescara wheels, and the STD size is 225/45R18 it gave a slightly better protection of the rim and looked a bit better, which was the 2 things I was after.
Other that that I never noticed a difference.
Back in the day I also ran my Corrado G60 on 1cm wider tyres for the same reasons.

Also I'll be doing the same as you suggest when my Clubsport needs its Pirellis changing on my Brescia wheels.

If none of this works out for you I'll take those PS4s of his hands...
