Paint done - Wheels On....Pics
« on: 01 October 2018, 12:48 »
Picked the GTI up from the body shop Friday night. Very happy wit the work they've done.
Had them put the wheels on as well.
I had previously degreased the wheels with a 1:20 solution of Bilt Hamber Surfex HD (which is a phenomenal degreaser). Then a coating of C5 to see them through the winter.

Vast improvement..

Looks great Simon ; I’d be very happy with that. It’s now looking just like a mk6 GTI should look.

2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)
Gone but not forgotten;
2016 Polo GTI; Blue Silk
2011 mk6 Golf GTD; Carbon Grey
2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

Lovely, now get some new number plates without the screw holes in the top corners.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Agree. Excellent job.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

What a transformation! You've done an incredible job with this. C5 is brilliant too, they'll be well protected.

Thanks for the comments. It has been really great to get stuck into a car after a few years in an automotive wilderness....

I forgot how much I enjoyed tinkering with car stuff. Had this for a number of years previously - sold in 2013 (irritatingly it has since tripled in value) which I spent hundreds of hours on - but did almost nothing to the Mercedes I have had in between.

That is stunning! 993 is possibly my favourite 911 shape ever. Who cares about the value if you enjoyed it while you had it

Thanks. I did love it. But when 3rd child came along, it didn't get driven. With 2 children it's a usable car on weekends, but not with 3. I had done 700 miles in a year so it had to go. But I was very involved on the 911 forums and it went to a great home!
