Scuffed my front left rim. Some plonk at a two lane roundabout decides to pull in to my lane I swerve to avoid him and I go over the curb but in doing so scuff the outside of my rim badly. I was in a rush so I didn't stop until I get to the petrol station thinking tyre has taken the brunt of the force. Lo and behold a 3 inch scuff. Not impressed!! Now I need to find a diamond cut alloy repair specialist any one know of one in or around birmingham.

Same happened to me about a week after picking it up ! Gutted, I have wheel protection cover from the dealer but IMO it's worthless if you have diamond cut wheels.  They use a local company in curdworth called flying colours who turned up and used a grinder to basically "cut out" the damage on my rim and then polish it up ! Looks ok from a distance but up close you can see it's been ground down then made to look OK ! Do a search on the forum as I'm sure there was a thread about diamond cut repairs and a good company in brum ! Good luck !

This is what I have just received from details ride in solihull

Alloy wheel refinishing process includes:

Alloy wheels removed from car, tyres removed from rims
Alloy wheels chemically stripped to remove previous finish, then repaired as necessary e.g. kerbing/damage removed to leave a perfectly smooth finish prior to paint
6 stage wet paint process, including primer, colour, pearl and ultra hard crystal clear lacquer (in matte/gloss as required), finish allowed to bake/cure for a minimum of 24 hours to ensure maximum durability
Wheel face/lip re-diamond cut by machine then lacquered
Tyres re-fitted to wheels, fully re-balanced and fitted with new valves/valve caps
Wheels fully sealed including inner barrel with Gtechniq C5 prior to re-fitting
Wheels re-fitted to car, bolts torqued to manufacturer recommended settings

Quote based one one wheel OE spec refinish with re-diamond cut face would be 150.00 GBP which would be a full refinish as detailed above.

Makes it sound like a lot for the money your paying or is that the standard package that everyone provides.

That's a well padded out list, but I suppose you get what you pay for !

The dealer cover VW offer costs £250 and is for 3 years so I guess if I scuff up a few more times over the next 3 years it's paid for itself (even if the repairs aren't that great !).

I suppose it depends how fussy you are a bout cars misterp, if it's a company car I would not bother but If it's your pride and joy and you've got the doe just go for it !

It's my car it's not a company car. I got a cheaper quote from a guy I used to refurb my old a3 alloys. And he said he would charge Approx 100 quid so it shows what I'm getting for the 50 quid more. Plus the guy who has offered it to me I may get him to do a winter prep on my car. So may just roll it all in together.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but was this for all 4 wheels?
