Wow :o there's some serious modifications and work going on there! Keep us posted. :)
-
I can see the shell is original, but what else will be left of the Mk1? looks great though, cant wait to hear what the test run is like
-
wot do you think about the wheels do you think the design of the wheels are to new because i want it to look as standerd as posible ;D
-
Looking good, you gonna let anyone else drive it?
-
V nice ;D. Lot of hard work to get that far, I see that you have widened the body, what are you doing for a windscreen, bonnet and tailgate?. Do the downpipes have to be that big :o. Good luck ;) , Steve.
-
extending windscreen pillers 2.5 inc used another bonnet and tailgate put five inc in today started to make cage, also got floorpan in ,pedal box steering colum looking pritty good making my own dashboard and senter console out of fibreglass ,yes i wood let other people drive it .im only doing this project to prove a point i love mk1 golf,s and tvr,s so i have best of both worlds. p.s. what colour wood any body sujest as i will be painting it myself :)
-
one awesome car matey seen pics on gallery top prof build mate, gonna be the quickest fatest low down god dam golf!, get it finished and sorted i reckon youll have every car mag in the country trying to feature it!!!,
-
after looking at the pics in the gallery all i can say is wow. Talk about alot of work and dedication. my hats off to you. love to see it when it is finished.
-
That project is awesome :)
I would be scared to carry out mods like that.
any more pics?
-
I wouldnt even call it a mod - looks like you are building an entirely new car there - brave man!! it looks amazing
-
To be honest, if you are sculpturing your own dashboard I would have to suggest it is a dark hardwood. Something like Iroco or Sapele. Finish it off with a Danish oil to bring out the grain and it would look absolutely stunning ! Also using Danish oil will seal the wood and make it protected against the elements.
Fantastic project and something I am very jealous of. Good luck to you and your endeavours. Keep the piccies rolling in and thanks for sharing with us all !
Paul :)

-
keep up the hard work mate really looking forward to seeing it
-
2 choices with the colour I reckon.
Firstly, super subtle maybe black or grey so that your average road user doesn't take too much notice. Although the rumbling engine may be a bit of a giveaway!
Second idea, paint it a really stupid colour like Simon's beast:
http://www.golfgti.co.uk/pageimages/pcmagshoot/pcmagshoot14.jpg
No one could miss you then!
Most importantly though, you need some GolfGTI.co.uk stickers in the windows ;) and then get it in PerformanceVW :)
-
i think this car when finished will grace the pages of many a custom/performance car mag!!! lol ;D bring it on!!! ;D
-
another qest should i carpet the floor or alloy ? should i keep it relitivley standerd as possable or go made i carnt make my mind up also im thinking about nos? whot d ya recon.im getting to the fiderly bits now and got so many ideas in my head i dont no witch way to go .much apreciated on all the responce am getting not bad to say i didnt think no one would be intrested Of cource ill have golfgti stickers on it if it wasnt for all your responce i probely wouldnt of got this far.when its finished and gone for its inspection and all road werthy wil all have to meet at sata pod you all can have a go and you can hold me to that Thanks again i can see the light at the end of the tunnel ;) buy the way any body need advice on body work ie suisiding doors; vertical lift doors roof chops basicly any thing mad just ask
-
if it was me i'd keep it relatively standard looking, smoothed out a little, and obviously as low and wide as it can be. That'll make the Porsche driver next to you at the lights even more sick when he's eating your exhaust fumes. Does that qualify me for a blast at santa pod ? ;) ;) ;)
-
alloy floor pan i reckon, had to say with out seeing in the flesh but would be nice if all done pukka!! ;D
-
alloy floor could be good, race car style.
nos as well?! worried that big V8 isn't going to be enough? :o
-
Reckon we should get a gentlemans wager on the final BHP of this beast?
I reckon at least 350 BHP is easily realistic
All the best with it and cant wait to finally see it in the "metal"

Whats going to happen to the motor after the cars finished? are you gonna mod the engine further or just keep it stock?
-
just looked at pics and got to say fair play you is brave . good to see alot of hard work going into it by yourself (assuming its yourself) and not a cheque book daddies boy car like some jumped up 1.0ltr c**sa good work keep us all posted ;)
-
Hows the 'Tolf' :) going? Really liking the idea, hope its going a lot easier than it looks.
He's my opinion on styling:
Subtle black colour, or maybe a subltle flip colour going with TVR's style of colour.
Carpet inside.
Have you had a look at the Porsche Mk1 done in the 80's i think??
Jelly
-
Personaly i think you should make it really classy in and out a nice plush leather and carpet interior and a nice subtle expensive look on the outside something like a silver with a pearl laquer ontop. Have a look at some of the carrisma stuff they have done alot of renault 5 stuff and a TVR the interiors are mad. Top work by the way wish i had the time and i only have 2 kids. 8)
-
hey tvr are you goin to get it done for inters or we gonna have to wait a bit longer all the best ;D
-
hows it going tvrgolf is the project done yet, what have you got left to do. hope to see you at the next newark meet

-
Nice to see the monster in the flesh, so to speak, certainly an awesome piece of creativity and vision. :)There's no substitute for cubic inches and clothed in a classic piece of automotive design 8)
Classy motor deserves a classic paint colour I reckon like mile deep black.
Keep on keeping on ;)
-
