Had all belts changed and some pre tensioner thing, plus mechanic said belt was one tooth out or something. The result is my 91 mk2 gti is running so smooth, tight and just wants to be revved, feels like new, plus think its got something to do with optimax aswell!!!
Only problem is that when the belts got changed i noticed that wen i pull up at lights the engine revs at 1100-1200 RPM. Depressing the accelerator to 2000 RPM corrects this back down to 900 RPM. This is not normal but coz the car is running so nicely I don't want a mechanic to mess up the smoothest of the engine for a slightly over reving engine. Furthermore, the engine idles like it has never done before, smooth....Do you reackon i should stay clear of fixing it or get it sorted.
