Title: Double din for Christmas
Post by: gijoebloggs on 01 November 2010, 10:53
Hi, Looking for a bit of advise. I have looked in the previous postings however most are out of date. My partner has offered to buy me a double din head unit for around £200-£250 for Christmas and wondered if any mk4 owners have any suggestions? Cheers.

Anything Pioneer. I've had Kenwood, Sony, JVC etc.. and honestly its worth just paying the extra and getting a pioneer, mines brilliant for just a single unit

surely the point having a double din is to have dvd playing capability too? That pioneer one, there is a next one up and its awesome. £300 tho i think

The kenwood looks a nice system, have been looking at DVD's as well and you can even pick them up for less than 250.

I would chip in a bit extra and get this:

think ashmond hit the nail on the head tho, double din only really worth it if your gettin the screen, wouldnt be fussed about the sat nav bit as its out the way down at the bottom of the dash.

could prob get a better single din stereo with a lot more features (dvd) then get a seperate fold out screen to go in the upper section

not denying it does look good, but if i were to have the choice then id go for the screen. double din never really took off the way it was intended, you dont get lots of extra benefits for the extra space used

I have the same but have been thinking of updating to a touch screen version, i have had a lot of use out of this unit but just feels a little dated now.

I like that new version someone posted earlier in the thread but have also looked at these
