I have read somewhere that some of the early AUM cars came with the KO3 turbo, therefore don't automatically assume your AUM has the KO3 's'!!!

all AUM engines had k03s as standard .... everytime vw change something they bring out a new engine code . there iis a debate about AUM had either k03 or k03s but i can tell u all AUM engines comes out of a factory had k03s fitted and obvious someone blew the turbo and jus fitted the k03 instead of k03s ...

Does anyone know - sure they will....

What year Golfs have which engines

AGU = 150 bhp - Throttle cable, KO3 turbo, 5 speed :- Re-maps to 195-210 bhp.

ARZ = 150 bhp - Drive-By-Wire, KO3 turbo, 5 speed.  :- Re-maps to 195-210 bhp.

AUM = 150 bhp - D.B.W., VVT, KO3-S turbo, 5 speed  :- Re-maps to 220-230 bhp.  (***EDIT***  Some early AUM's still came with the KO3 turbo).

AUQ = 180 bhp - D.B.W., VVT, KO3-S turbo, 6 speed  :- Re-maps to 220-230 bhp.

Also what do you have to do to your car before it can be re mapped?

I've bought a GTI, it already has so many mods! One of which is a massive front mount intercooler.
It also has a BOV, huge air filter, uprated coil pack and leads, lots of silicon pipes lol.
I'm unsure if it's been remapped, so I'd like to get it re-remapped if you get me. Just for my own peace of mind.

As it has so many mods would I better with a custom map, or a generic one like the revo?

Here's a pic of the engine bay, you pick out the mods lol, I'm not 100% of everything thats been done.

Can I ask the reliability question?
I'm looking at a GTi with 126k on the clock - I'm assuming upping the engine's output will perhaps shorten its life?

Can anyone comment please?
