well to start off my car is a 1992 golf mk2 1.3 ryder!
and this is the story of how it became mine:
i first saw the car on auto trader and decided to go a see it all the way in halifax! after a long debait :undecided: and alot of head scratching :rolleyes: I decided to part with the grand total of £375 for it on the 1-oct-05! :grin:
the next weekend i made arangments with a friend to drive up and then drive it back! we did all the normal checks (water, oil, ...etc...) and started home! as some of you may know that on 1 side of halifax there is a hell of a hill and the car was judding like crazy! so i had to drop it 2 gears and play with the cluch all the way up! :shocked:! This continued for quite awhile so by the time we reached the M6 i wasnt goin to take the chance!
I pulled over and poped the bonnet and discovered that all my water was used up and there was none in the pipes!
called the AA and he came and cleaned inside the dizzy cleaned the sparks and discovered my problem! there was a hole through the outside of the watertank that went through intho the middlebit and it had leaked EVERYWERE!! :huh:
so after a quick patch up we set off a got home saftly at the great speed of 80mph!! :evil:

since then i have done a few things to it but nothing major!
I have purchased a set of 16's but found that 1 of them was to badly buckled so ill be pickin up a new set soon!
The new set will be azev a look alikes!

i now have sitting in my garage the following items which ill try and fit on the next dry day in sunny north wales! :grin:

single light debaged grill
clear front inducators
crystal smoked rear lights
scorpian letterbox back box
2x 15" tornado 600watt subs

Mounteny steeringwheel and boss
also as it has been raining so much i desided to try and colour code my interior!

well done quite abit in the last 5 days!
first of all i thought id fit my exhaust but then relised i better fit my rear Big bumper!
so i did and it was fine exept for on the drivers side were the arch is wider for the fuel spout it stops the arm of the Big bumper to go all the way in so looks....od!
anyway I then went anout fitting my exhaust and it went without much trouble!

also decided to fit my front B Bumper! I did this last nite in the cold and dark cous it wasnt raining and couldnt see very well!
My 2 light badgles grill arrived from sellers this morning and fitted it also! when i got out to my garage i looked at my standered grill and thought it really looked nice! then fitted my new grill and wasnt so sure!
take a look at the new pics and pm me what you think i should do either keep debaged grill or put standered back on!

also off to cheshire today to get a new set of alloys as 1 of mine is badly damaged (thanks to previous owner!!! :angry:)
and ive decided to get my self a set of 16x7.5 azev a's as liked to look of them!

well got back and im chuffed to pieces with the alloys! but there were things i didnt expect!
1.the alloys wernt azevs but sigmas
2. as some azevs are flat with the lip these have got an inch lip before the spokes!!
fitted them but was dark by the time i finnished!
also as i was there i picked up a set of clear side repeaters and some standered Big bumper indicaors as mine didnt have the bit that held the bulb!
all is now wired in and workin!
will take some pics tommorow in the light!

Next mod i think is going to have to be some 60mm shocks and springs but then after that im not sure!
I dont know what route to take!
either: 1. leave the arches the way they are
      2. Get some GTI arches
      3. save up and get tome G60 arches!

car will be going to a garage tommorow to get all the body work tidyed up and just finnishing up and also going for a full service!

well the car went to the garage today to get a full service and every fillter change and im getting them to rplace my tappets and also geting them to take out my middle box and reweld my back bo to make a straight through system of sorts! Also they think that my cam shaft maybe worn and ive been offered a polo GT cam thats a direct replacement that i think ill take up hiss offer!
also gettin some m3 crystal rearlights and some 40mm springs in 2 weeks so its all good at the mo!

Well was on the phone to the garage....
well to be honest its really not good news! theve flushed the system out and put new oil in after finding anti freeze in the last lot which explains the water leak! they also sed that my head gasket is on the way out and that my car was only running on 3 cylinders! well they replaced with fresh oil and the oil was just squirting out the cylinders rite past the piston! I know that alot of peeps wont trust garages but they owners of this garage are really close friends of mine and theyve sed with al honesty that its not worth reparing and it would be worth finding a reconditioned 1.3 engine!
so PLEASE IF ANY! HAS A GOOD CONDITION 1.3 THEN PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get in contact with me!!!

ill keep updates on the progress!
but i suppose there is an upside to this all happening! It means that I can take it off the road for a while and when i get an engine it means i can speant some time uprating parts!

well ive had a few offers for engines but they've all been high milage so ive been told that a 1.3 or 1.4 engine from a mk3 polo i think or mk4 polo will fit in mine and all i have to do is change the mounts? is that true?
will keep updates on my findings!

Still no luck with an engine as yet but im still looking!!
went to a friends today and ended up coming home with a set of m3 rear lights, chrome gas bonnet liffters and some 40mm springs on standered shockes!!
will fit the springs tommoro and take some pics!!

Just a quick update!
I need some help!
Ive found a possible engine and i need some technical details i.e will it fit!
The engine is a 1.5 from a mk1 jetta glx!
The guy thats selling it has sed to me that i can have the engine gearbox and anything else i need for the swap!!
the only proplem is the mounts are different!
Is a there any way of making it fit??
There is a post about this in the mk2 section so PLESE leave some comments and some advice!

well its been a wile since my last update and not much has changed!
Ive done a couple oflittle things:
chrome bonnet lifters
M3 rear lights
Ive got some 40mm springs in my garage waitin for spring compressors
ive also preped the back of the car for filler to debadge the back
and painted the bottom strip on my grill as it wasnt interchangable!

well it has been a while since i last posted and quite abit has happened!
first of after not opening my car for 2 weeks when i finaly got in there was mould everywere!
this problem has been sorted for the tme being.. i need a new heater matrix though!
I also got hold of some G60 arches!

I have come to my senses and Ive decided to remove the colour coded parts in my interior :embarassed:
every thing in my dash is re-assembled except the switches as still waiting for them.....
I also now need to replace the seat base on the passenger after a mate decided to test it to see how strong it was.. :angry:
also got some sills now waiting.. thanks haribo! :wink:

quick update....
went to the scrappys and orderd a tailgate to replace my damaged 1! gonna pick it up friday.... its old mars red so looks orange but i aint bothered for £10... gonna get it resprayed along with my spoiler for the mk4 and ill get the same place to fit my vents and repray the wings at the same time!
also got my red switches and their great!
just bought some VDO gauges swell to fill the space were my radio used to be as ive now moved it to the centre console!
Will get some pics up ASAP!

ive been thinkin of the idea for awhile so after the summer im gonna get my wheels refurbed and centres painted anthrecite and lip painted silver.. not sure on polished lip yet...

fitted my new tailgate today.. went to scrappy and took off the 1 i wanted and it almost fell off was so rusty so 1 bargined 1 off him from another mk2 so i now got a mint black boot lol
im now gonna get a new bonnet and then once i sort an engine out its off to get a respray as ive finaly got the funds for the engine and respray! gonna get the quote from the company tommoro to get a spoiler for the mk4 painted at the same place.
its all good at the moment.
my plan is to get the car sorted by the end weekend in august which is the Leeds VW festival and is exactly 4 months from today so got alot of work to do by then! (plus another empty bank account!!)
Will post pics tommoro in the day light!

now that ive got my hands on some new brakes.. im gonna leave this car till next year to take it to the shows so i can work on it more.
next will be the engine which i have now had confirmation that it has been removed from the car!
with the brakes im gonna do the full rear disk conversion but will repace with new polybrushes and bearings and all the rest!

I finaly managed to get all my electrics sorted today thanks to the help from rubjohnny! :smiley:
also last nite i bough some mk3 stalks so they will also be added sortly!
Bought some 90spec sills off Haribo aswell, just waitin for some door strips!
Played around with my carb aswell today and got it to idle really nicly at last so it shoud get to my mates to have the engine put in!
on the matter of the engine, got alot planned for it now so the mk2 wont becommin out this year i think a i wanna get some ace mods done to it first!
will let ya know more about them later when i get more info on them!

unfortunatly i think this is the end of the road for the ruff ryder as the guy that promised my his engine is seriously messin me about so it looks like im gonna have to stop bein a tight arse and get a 1.6......
cleaned my garage completely today ready for the 1.3 to go into the garage to be striped for good...... :sad:
sad moment as my first car and project goes down the drain...6 months of hard work now to get scrapped. :cry:
still maybe this is a good thing on to bigger and better things.. :smiley:

Had ya goin there didnt 1..... :grin:... nah really was gonna scrap it even had the interior striped out till i got a phone call off a mate thts found me an engine from a low milage mk2 1.3 that has been hit from the rear.. so if i can get it for the ace low price hes askin ill take it replace the gaskets...paint it.. get my old 1 out.. clean my old gearbox. chuck it on my new block and replace the clutch.. then chuck it all back in freshly painted!!
so the dubs all back together... with some new goodies.....

well fitted a vortex style SWG centre console today and there ace i recon they finish the inside!

also my new crystal indicators havent asted to long.... some smaked up chav has come along and nicked 1 and smashed the other all over my drive.. thanks... :lol:
so tommoro ive giot a mate commin over and were gonna drain the engine and start removig pipes and catalouging them so that when the new 1's put in its a bit easier!

well after a long and really stressful day..(think my exams will be easier!!)
finalny me and my mate got the engine out.... was alot harder that i thought it would be.. he came over at 8am and we finnished dead on 8pm.... :???:
so it all came out with out any broke pieces and im pritty happy with it all as now its not to hard a job fitting it back as iuve dissconected aslittle as possible so it shouid be more strait forward when putting new engine in.
Engine bay now ready for a jet wash for the new engine which should be here soon!
also gotta say BIG thanks to dave_dub for comin over with his very nifty star thingy and removin my drive shafts!!
