Oil Warning Light
« on: 08 November 2010, 19:59 »
A few nights ago i was driving home and noticed the oil warning light flashing, i stopped at the nearest garage, checked the oil and all was ok. Same thing happened yesterday... I had to get some welding done last week to get it through its MOT and i'm wondering if the 2 are connected(no idea how...), any ideas?

If the oil level is correct then you could have a sensor problem or low oil pressure.

check blue/black wire to the brown/blue sensor. pull boot right back on the wire to check for hidden splits, and make sure sensor isnt leaking oil. on 8v its on side of head, 16v on oil filter housing. soem mk3s have black covering on the oil pressure wires which is really helpfull, so check them all if not sure

The light has only come on twice, both times i stopped, turned the engine off then on again and it went away.
