Hi,
Just bought myself a GT TDI (the 110 Bhp one) but I wondered if anyone knows where to find a Strut Brace for it? I have looked through a few catalogues, but the all seem a bit vague where the TDI is concerned.
Also I can't get onto the German Car Company Website. I have always got my VW bits from them in the past, but can't seem to make contact. Has anything happened to them in the past two years (when I strayed, and had a peuge*t)?
Cheers

Hi Mark
The GCC site
http://www.golfgti.co.uk/linkcount.asp?LinkID=50
does seem to have gone awol :( They still advertise in the VW mags so I doubt they have gone out of business!
You could try Van Aaken

I have been told that with such strong quality cars as golfs strut braces dont make a noticable difference until you lower you car so it might be worth saving you penneys for lowering it.
-
You are probably right about not needing the brace, it dosn't seem as loose as I was expecting.
I am not intending to lower the car, as I do too many miles, and don't want to stiffen it up too much. I was thinking of putting some decent wheels on though - will 17s affect the handling too much? 18s seem a bit on the expensive side, but they do look good! :)

I agree with stoat that unless you have already lowered it AND drive it like you hate it, a strut brace is a bit pointless.
However, 18's are a definite requirement on a mk4! :P
Just look at the anniversary edition with its polished BBS or the R32's multispoke efforts. You wont regret it!

18's are the way forward on a mk4 they have big arches and you need big rims to fill them

Hmmm. Time to start saving methinks.
So, do we think Multispoke (a la R32) or Big Wide 5 (or 6) spokes?
It has the VW 5 spoke ones which are OK, if somewhat small. The choice is a little limited for 18's though...

There is a fair old selection of 18's available! Ace 132's win every time for me:

I think Demon Tweeks list strut braces for TDi.Have lowered my 110tdi with Raceland kit(shocks+springs),17"Audi TT 6 spokes, ride quality quite good,if you put 17" on standard ride height, looks a bit like a 4by4,will post some pics on uk-mkivs.net of my car to show you how it looks or email me thru forum and i will email you direct,ps got a Speed Buster 2 Power Box for it,huge difference in performance!!!!!
