to slam or not to slam .....
« on: 12 July 2010, 22:38 »
evening all ......

right i got a bit of a dilemma ...... as the proud owner of a 8v gti (my first car and my pride and joy) im having a difficult decision playing over in my head

should i drop the suspension on the golf 40mm?? i know a lot of people do this (you see mk3's rubbing arches everywhere) but i was wondering if some of you guys out there can help me decide

1) is it 'done too much' and ill end up like every other car out there

2) is the insurance cost worth it for the ride improvement? if i do drop, ill fit a upper brace too (i have one knocking around)

i have had a good butchers through the forum, and i can see the obvious visual benefits of the drop, but im still unsure, will the ride improvement be worth the 'rough ride' on the harsher suspension?

appreciate the input guys

+2

Depending on wheel size you should get no scrubbing whatsoever with a 40mm drop. It looks a million times better and if done properly the ride will be good!

slam it down, insurance costs are more than worth it, its amazing how many heads a lowered car will turn, especially a mk3 ;)

Slamming usually makes it impratical, but a nice drop never hurts and looks much better as well.
