High mileage gt tdi's?

Hi. I'm looking at getting a mk5 gt tdi. My budget is about 5/6k. My question is what things to look out for and also. How good are the engines that have high miles on them?

1.9's are slow

2.0 140's have chocolate turbo's and certainly the Audi A3 with the same engine suffered from porus cylinder heads; not sure about the MK5 itself 

Not much apart from that though

Brand new units are approx £500 plus fitting.  The replacement ones are much stronger though

Approx 35bhp / 50-60lbs ft torque

Yeah those are average figures.  Some do make more but its dependent on how fit the engine is

Depends how its mapped. Some throw a load of boost at it; others only increase it by a minimal amount
