Title: Which Grade of Oil for a Mk 7 GTI?
Post by: Marcus P on 06 March 2014, 13:18
Hi, Which is the correct oil for use in the Uk for a Mk 7 GTI? The manual says 5w 30 / 5w 40. I asked a dealer and they said 0w 30 although you can put a maximum of 5w 30 in?

using longlife intervals only 5w30 with vw spec 504.00 / 507.00

if not longlife then i'd use 0w40 with vw spec 502.00 (teboil diamond plus 0w40, mobil 1 0w40, shell helix ultra 0w40)

All cars are delivered set up for long life, so, if your car has not had a service/oil change, it will have the 5W30, 507 spec. oil in the engine. Probably not wise to mix different specs, especially as the engine will still be bedding in.
