Center console gauges
« on: 01 May 2003, 15:14 »
What gauges are meant to be fitted in the center console of a late Mk1 Golf GTI? If any???
Mine appears to have some aftermarket gauges that aren't 'vdo'. They are, a vacuum/economy gauge, a battery gauge that doesn't work and oil pressure gauge that also doesn't work.
I have some ex Audi 'vdo' gauges that I was thinking of fitting that are: Oil temp, oil pressure and battery. If these are what are meant to be fitted does anyone have any wiring diagrams as I have looked everywhere and can't find any information on any of the center console gauges.
TIA.

Hi,
The battery gauge shouldn't be a problem if you can find a "switched live" behind your dash somewhere.
If it is an ammeter you will need to connect it up in series (i did mine straight to the fuse box) and volt meters need to be connected in parallel.
I have no idea about the oil gauges, these wil require sender unit i would have thought!??

Hi Tom and thanks for your input.
Its a voltmeter, so as you say shouldn't be too much of a problem. I think I'm going to have to dig out my Audi wiring diagrams to suss out the other gauges.
