On the other hand Quinten Wilson likes it too!

So what does that say?

The GTI sits a full 15mm lower than the standard car

Which is 10mm less than the mk4 gti's were lowered over standard..

At the rear, twin exhaust pipes

About time too ! Surely the most popular mk4 mod was a visible exhaust.

Slot first gear and lift the clutch and the car darts off the line with an eagerness that belies its 1,300kg bulk.

Sing it with me.. "WHO ATE ALL THE PIES.. WHO ATE ALL THE PIES .. YOU FAT BAS..."

Capable of 0-60mph in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 146mph, it's the fastest Golf since the V6 R32, but in reality, it feels quicker.

How much is this guy getting paid to write this tosh ?? Autoexpress tested the R32 before VW released the software upgrade to cure the "flat spots and hesitation" that autoexpress clearly focused on. Oh well... if it brings down R32 prices.. let it be? ;D

Yet although engine performance is exciting, it's the chassis that really im-presses. Put simply, the MkV GTI is a brilliant driver's tool, especially on wind- ing country roads

Haven't heard the chassis design being praised quite so dramatically by the people with standard Mk5's... I think I'll have to book a test drive in a new GTI to decide for myself.

I'll be off down to the VW stealership as soon as they get on in for a riptear around cardiff  ;D

if they say I'm too young I'll say I drive a quicker golf everyday  :P
