White spirit or turps on a bit of rag will clean that floor up nicely.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

That the plan
I have a big tub of washing thinners I use for the paint gun so will use that and then paint it with some rattle cans

Ok so had work over the last week working 12 hour shifts so progress hasn't been too rapid

I managed to clean all the crap off of the rear footwells using thinners, rags and a flat head screwdriver haha
Managed to get them spotless :)

I have also started the fabrication of the frame for the shifter platform
Got along way to go but at least it has some shape!

Bolted on under the dash and got some strong cable clips to hold it at the rear end.

Going to use 1mm plate for in between the frame not fully decided how yet but will make the decisions as I go haha

Also these arrived!
Cupra r wishbones ...

The Enamel paint for subframe and wishbones also arrived! And also various rattle cans - gloss black for the Interior, red for a few bits and primer :)

Got around to clearing all the residue from the front footwells!  Just need to get to the back end now but there is interior in the way!
Anybody want to buy some mk4 Interior? Haha

Passenger footwell before...

And after .....

A little picture of both the golf

I finished there for the day as i had to go out!

or so i thought!

I went back out a bit later....it may be dark but it wasn't stopping me

All done!

just need to get around to doing it all in the back now, need to remove the shifter but that means removing the exhaust ect so i think im just goning to carry on with the interior for now

I doubt p clips will be strong enough to support the back tbh.

I wondered this when my dad first mentioned them but holding them in place it does seem quite strong but if they arnt good enough I will weld a piece of plate across the bar and to the transmission tunnel

I would get it welded, much stronger in the long run.

Ok done a few bits and bobs but will do a update with pictures at some point this week.

But first quick question!

Anyone have a guide for removing the dashboard without destroying it?
Decided To strip the airbag and rear speaker wiring while I have it in bits so going to remove the dash and removing everything that isn't needed

Cheers lads

Time for a update!

Just been removing bits and bibs over the last few days tbh

Removed the passenger and driver air bags

drilled out the rivets to remove the rear speaker plates. going to leave that tiny bit of sound deadening as its really thin compared to the other stuff and dont want to get it to hot due to paintwork on the other side!

Removed all the sound deadening from the back!

I have also cleaned up all the residue but didn't get a photo.

I then decided I was going to remove the sound deadening behind the dash and also remove the unwanted wiring including the airbag and rear speaker wiring and I am also going to reroute the wiring for the handbrake switch, fuel filler and alarm disable button.

what it looked like when i remember to take a photo...

I got as much as the sound deadening as I could without further stipping. and i took all the wiring back until I hit big bundles of wire and then cut and heat shrinked all the ends.

I have also being doing some more weighing!
so up to now we have got....

Front seats were 22kg each (which I think are lighter then the recaros

Back seats
Parcel shelf
Spare wheel
Some sound proofing (not all of it)
And a few bits of crap (2kg)

All added upto 45kg

few bits of trim including carpet - 10kg
stuff from rear side panels and handbrake cover - 2kg
Passenger airbag and control unit - 4kg
rear sound deadening - 5kg
wiring and dash sound deadening - 6kg

so up to now i have saved 116kg

There is still loads of bits in the boot that I need to sell and the headlining etc but i will keep track of it all and when i'm done weight the car using the weighbridge at work!

Next up is reseal the drain plugs with new silicone
and try think of some more things I can do before I buy the rollcage which i will be ordering this month

O yes i also got this

but that is going to wait untill my shifter platform is finished which i cant do untill i have dropped my shifter which includes dropping the exhaust and heatshield  :undecided:
