I'm going to get an SLR as soon as I can afford to :) I'm getting really into photography now.

Its a big initial outlay, but I guess if you get good you can always make some money off of it. I'm happy just using my compact camera at the moment (plus the other half wont be impressed if I go out and spend a ridiculous amount on a camera when we are saving for a house!)

I would deffo be interested in doing a photography course though, evening school or something.

That's what I'll plan on doing in the future, but not yet, I'll use this camera for now, then get something abit more uprated before spending money on an SLR.

imo just go straight for the DSLR option and don't go for another compact... also get yourself on a course if you do get a DSLR as it will teach you so much more so much quicker and you can benefit from those around you and learn from them too
