So... my picture here.

I'd need to tinker with the white balance to get it a little less orange/yellow?

I thought even that was too technical for you oldies, chuff!

EDIT: Guy/Horney: Is it not easier to use AWB on the camera but shoot in RAW, then in Photoshop RAW (Bridge) just change the WB in there?

sometimes... but on other occasions its easier to shoot in jpeg - sports photography etc

AWB

manual WB

Did you do the same as Nick suggested? - take a piece of white paper to set white balance at the time.

You sharpen them at all bud? Maybe try it and see? All digital photos need a little sharpening tweak as digital sensors are much softer than film (You'd think it was the other way wouldn't you?)

They look good though, balance int he 2nd shot is lovely.

I was quite chuffed with it, as I don't understand the manual settings for white balance at the moment, it's just damn scary!!

Amazing how powerful PS can be when it wants to!

Great results with the second shot! :D

Nick: How do you sharpen your images?

I use unsharp mask and then mess with the sliders till I'm happy. Sometimes you can get away with just using the "Sharpen" filter. People seem to bang on about it being to generic but it works OK for me quite often.

Funnily enough I just tried to get the same result doing the same thing to the picture I did the first time around, and it's proving impossible to replicate

Nick, when you do portrait shots with more than one person in the pic do you set the AF point selection to auto or manual centre? Some of my shots have one face in focus and the other not. Just wondered what you did. And do you know if you can select more than one focus point on manual mode as it only lets me select one of the 9 points. Auto mode is a bit hit and miss sometimes not selecting what I want in focus.
