Could be a few issues:

Poor tyres
Overinflated tyres
You've learn to push your car with its setup and are at the natural limit
Issue with a single brake

I'd say its most likely tires, my friend had some cheap ones, they where like plastic which explained the lack of grip  :grin: :grin: :grin:

iv got some cheap nasty tyres on my car as just bought it last week and all 4 are new, going to have to replace them as they were only £45 each and handling is shocking,
