Couple of things worth pointing out though....

QPE kit uses the standard mk2 rod gearbox - not likely to handle that much power before going BANG!

The engine may fit on standard mounts but this is true ONLY of the engine they use - others need slightly different setup!

Dont forget that any standalone kit isnt as good as the real thing that has had millions spend on r&d etc

not to hijack the thread, but the shell has got to the point there a trip to the bodyshop would cost me more than to buy another mk2. so I'll be moving the engine into the next mk2 (as well as a few other things).

I can take pics of everything then :)

**** A MUST VISIT / READ OF THIS WEBSITE ****

here is the US site - http://www.funksoulkitty.org/ - its focused on a mk1 Scirocco but they are the same engine setup as a mk1 golf and the owner is a female who I have to say rocks - check out the details on the site. Good for her I say..

There are new pages on the site now which show all 20v steps in details - which are just amazing - even how to create the engine mounts... COOL AS!

any conversions for mk4 golfs? I am doing a 1.4 to 1.8t conversion and a guide would be VERY useful, as would a wiring diagram

Ye thats a thing i need to know before doing mine i know all the mechanical stuff and feel confident there but the loom of my mk 2 gti 16v and the the 1.8t ecu + engine loom what do i have to alter or how do i re wire it? I would obviously need the 1.8t ecu also wont i ?!?! On that Qtech site is says you dont need it, but engine needs management! I guess they ask you to sent the wire to them and they mod the wire and supply u an ecu of some sort?? Am i right?

But £600 for that kit when im an electronic engineer myself  I guess i could do it my self if i had both the mk 2 16v gti wiring diagram and the 1.8t wire diagram. If i do this i can spend that £600 for some goodies for the 1.8t engine before i drop her in

Any tips on where to start for the wiring, any one got a custom diagram they have made when moding there loom?

Oh ye someone metioned about the 020 Gearbox going bang im sure if you stick a quaiffe diff for around £500 it wont go bang and traction will be improved

I rang up a vw specialist garage about dropping a 1.8T 20v in my mk4 2ltr gti.

They said 4 grand

Does that sound about the right price?

Sounds about right to me. 4k is at the cheaper side. Ring up some of the other specialists in the mags and get some quotes.
