I found a load of blue dome ones so I went for three white ones. I'll have a spare once I've given MH one of the three.

Right guys, just spent half an hour in my Ebay purchase history and found the supplier of my bulbs (if you are interested).

For the 39mm Vanity lights

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-39mm-Xenon-White-LED-Bulb-Car-Rear-License-Number-Plate-Light-C5W-239-256-272-/270993317483?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f1875de6b

For the 42mm Boot light

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3X-Pure-White-8-LED-Car-Interior-Dome-C5W-Festoon-Bulb-Light-Lamp-42mm-12V-New-/281148384741?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4175bfe5e5

Having said that, there does seem to be plenty of other sellers doing them as well.

A word of warning with these LED replacement bulbs, I had some on my Mk5 for the number plate lights and although they were supposed to be CANBUS compatible they worked intermittently and eventually fried themselves inside the bumper - black sooty stuff all over when I removed them!

I think the moral is don't just but the cheapest ones!

I think Norbreck has already said that the interior lights being replaced are not canbus governed, so no concerns.

Yep, the LED's I purchased for the Scirocco (that are now in the Golf) were not CAN Bus friendly, and they are working perfectly with no flickering or bulb warnings etc.

I do agree however that the footwell lights as well as the front sidelights and number plate lights were all monitored by the CAN Bus. Good job then on the GTI/GTD's that the footwell lights are already LED, the number plates lights are LED, and we don't have separate sidelights, but an LED and the main DRL in the headlights.
