Mk2 gti 16v front coils
« on: 17 January 2018, 14:37 »
Hi all

I am replacing front coil springs on my mk2 gti16v. The new springs are 35mm longer and 7 coils instead of 6 compared with the ones on the car. Im pretty sure that the ones on car are original
The new ones are Kilen and i have also checked against some lesjofors at GFS which are also longer
The suppliers all say they are correct but im reluctant to put these on
Anyone else experienced this ?

Mark

personally id fit Bilstein springs if you can get them.

Takes about 30 mins to change one, do one and see if it sits even / slightly higher (originals may have sagged)

Alternatively try a pair of Eibach front springs which from about 20mm

Thanks for reply mate, only just got that as it went to Junk!
I came to the conclusion that the ones on the car must have been slightly lowered at some point so decided to re use them, they actually cleaned up ok, ill see how it drives when I eventually get it back on road :)
