Strange window and central locking issue..
« on: 20 December 2010, 13:24 »
Right hopefully someone can help me with this!!

My electric windows go down but not up..

Central locking pump works if i open the door on the drivers side but not the passenger side..

Windows go back up if i do the old, leave the key turned in the door lock in the drivers side..

I replaced a blown fuse which was for electronics as none of them worked..but i don't know what's happening here..

Any help would really appreciate it!

The old wiring inside the door grommet issue???????
In other words something shorting out?

I'm not sure!

I thought maybe something controlled one half of the system (Windows going down and central locking on the drivers side) and then something controlled the other half (Windows going up and central locking passengers side) maybe fused or relayed... i know for a fact the systems work, just not how they should!

central locking is controlled by switches in the doors, so check the passenger switch wiring from the actuator and in the rubber boot between the door and the body. common fail point there.

if non of the windows go up, again check the wiring. since it works on the total closure, theres nothing wrong with the motor itself. check wiring to the switches and again between door and body. this is something you'll have to figure out for yourself I'm afraid

Will be a case of getting all the door cards off and checking the wiring.
Like I said the favourite is going to be the big grommet thing between the door and the body of the car.

as a random one to check - does your o/s brake light leak at all?  Mine did and the central locking pump (and large connector) shorted and doors would lock as you cornered etc.

Just a thought,

James
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
