look at the history of the car m8,alot of these valvers have had quite a few owners.sum have been drivin by old ladies doing 30mph everywhere, ohers have had 10 different owners abusing the nuts off of it..if it looks like its been looked after and cared for then yea, probably should be fine,

well looks good nick and the last previous 2 owners have been gti fans the guy im getting it off is a golf specialist mechanic he fitted my gti cam to my driver. what is the main things that can go wrong with the gti 16v engines.

i have seen a few engines for sale on ebay and i know of a company that do rebuilt engines so if i get a few years joy b4 it blows not the end of the world just pop in a new engine lol.

what are the main things to look for?

i dont care how clean it is with that milage its got to be cheap.  look around for something with less milage and see if they do cost more.  a car with 90,000 miles isnt always the best choice as thats a milage where things tend to need replacing so in theory a high miler could have had lots of new parts last few miles. but you know the 90,000 car is going to last longer and be a better sale when you are finished with it.   to be honest i wouldnt touch a car wit such a high milage no matter even if it IS a golf. its just too high
