Trying to figure out which wires are for the 3 stages of ignition.
The Accessory, ON, and Start (crank)
Thats according to my alarm manual

The Golf only has 2 stages Accessory and STart (crank) ... am i correct ? (for a mk3)

Anyway, sould someone point out the wires and their reference codes ... cheers.

VW have all 3, you have coil live, x-over live and cranking :)

coil live is also known as terminal 15, x-over terminal X and cranking as terminal 50.  the ign switch has these pins labled as such too handily for you ;)

The x-over feed is fed from relay 18, it kills popwer to this circuit while cranking over. This means high powere items such as lights, wipers, blower fan etc will be switched off while cranking so maximum power goes to the starter motor.

Though I suppose accessory could also refer to pin SU on the ign switch, thats what powers the radio. This pin is live whenever the key is inserted into the ignition switch :)

Sorry I'm a bit new to this, I've got a 91 gti 8v.
My rev counter isn't working currently, had the same problem before and managed to fix it by replacing loads of different fuses but I'm not sure what one it is! Could anyone tell me which one needs replacing?
And also is there any underlying problems if the fuse keeps blowing?
Thanks for your help
Ollie

Okay just took out fuse 21 for 30 seconds and when I replaced it, the rev counter is working!
Would there be an underlying problem or is that a permanent fix? Thanks for any help.
