Thanks all, it’s a real pita, but I’m glad it was caught on dashcam.   It’s been reported to the police and is in the hands of my insurer to pursue.

I have a BlackVue DR650S 2 channel (front and rear) which is hard wired in with a Power Magic Pro pack.  This dashcam has now been superseded by the DR750S.

Id be interested in seeing how you hard wire your dash cams up?

I have one in my current car that I want to transfer over the pending GTI purchase.

I might just use the cigarette lighter socket for now though. Can anyone post some pictures of how they have theirs set up?

thanks

Something similar happened to me, Clubsport Parked up on side street near in-laws house and this happens

Police contacted owner and passed details onto my insurance, all sorted

thank goodness, as the impact knocked the radar out of alignment.

I have the BlackVue DR750S 2 channel which is hard wired in with a Power Magic

I used piggy back fuses then soldered the wire and crimped a connector on top. Earth goes to the lower fuse box fixing bolt (just to the left of the yellow wire at the bottom).

My dashcam is hardwired in and even though I had my battery die last year which I suppose possibly could have been connected, the battery was replaced under warranty with no quibbling and the dealership are fully aware I have a wired-in dashcam.

Mine is left in-situ 24/7 so that parking mode can do its thing. An incident last Sunday, where someone put a dent in my car whilst it was parked up, has shown how worthwhile a dashcam is.

This is what my dashcam caught whilst it was parked up.
