so do you have to use a different key or does it still work using your same key fob sorry to be a bit nosey but how much did the bodyshop charge to do the work cos i was thinking of having my boot completly smoothed but have been told the popper things can be a bit unreliable and just wanted to get a rough price to go by.

erm, the mk5 rear handle is just a handle, there are no keys. it works off the central locking, had to get an auto sparky to wire it up. depending on your guy allow 100 bucks for it
managed to win the tailgate on ebay for 13 quid, body work wise it was take old handle out, weld a plate in and then cut the whole handle out the mk5 tailgate and graft it on to the nk4 tailgate. alot of work. i was quoted 350 but got svag club discount so 300.

Wee update of whats going on with this at present..
Take 1 empty spare wheel well

Put a tank and compressor possibly a couple of solenoids on a board

Stick it in the well ready for plumbing and wiring

Height as it is just now



And these will be fitted tomorrow now all old kit is removed
