Thanks mate...

Right I've done something similar on my local site so I thought I'd share it with you lot as well. I'll start from the beginning with a list of my planned a current mods, then I'll let the pics do the talking. Anything with a  next to it means it's bought and probably waiting to be fitted lol

I bought my Golf off my mate just under 2 years ago as myself and the wife needed a car to replace both her Corsa and my Escort RS Turbo. I'd spent an obscene amount of money on the Escort to get a magazine feature so it was time to start afresh. My mate was selling the Golf for £4600 and it only had 46k on the clocks! It was in very good condition so we had to have it...

next were a set of coilovers...

followed quickly by a Forge recirculating dump valve in anodised black...

next were some 4motion valances from my local stealers which would eventually be colour coded

A Bora sport gearknob to rid the interior of the crap walnut one...

and also got myself a badge from a VW Sharan to colour code along with the valances

I also ordered my grille, not to everyones taste but I liked it

and a de-locking kit...

I sold all my amp and my sub gear from the Escort as I've decided to keep with the standard bits for the moment so the money went on a Blueflame exhaust system that ebay yielded for a bargain price

then a decat pipe...

which I found out later was actually too short and didn't meet up with the rest of the system. This required me to get a piece of exhaust to bridge the gap. I found a company on ebay that made exactly what I needed and got them to send it to me along with some Mikalor clamps to replace the exhaust U clamps

Next up was a set of anniversary headlights, an OE armrest and a boost gauge pod for the steering column

then a W8 light

I had to then move on to some essentials, the header tank sensor gave out and was constantly telling me my water was too hot so a repllacement was needed. I was shocked at how cheap these are from the stealers!

old one

I also changed the pollen filter as my windscreen kept misting up in the mornings

New vs old...

I grabbed myself a set of Anniversary replica GRP sideskirts to get sprayed with my other parts...

I also bought myself an N75J valve and made a sub loom for the W8 light, to save cutting my original loom about

and a Tourag torch, which is so handy to have!

I then replaced the walnut interior with lower spec matt black parts. The prats that I couldn't repllace were sprayed with satin black.

before

and after

and the W8 light fitted...

along with the N75J valve and CAI while I was there

I hacked the passenger side grille about so the air flow was available for the CAI

found these up at Inters and had to buy them

and some German style plates to compliment them

I put my Wolfsburg state seal and the German MOT equivilant sticker on them as well to make it look bit more authentic

I also fitted my Sharan badge

Some shots of it in the sun

next were the parts for the coilovers

so I could fit them and the Rials

I didn't realise I had the drop to the max on the fronts, lowered it down and couldn't get the jack out lol

I've also changed my fake wood handles over for the satin black versions in the back...

The old...

the new...

taking the locks out...

fitted the drivers handle...

and sorted my s/steel zorst out so I know I've defo got all the bits I need.

I bought and fitted a rear strut brace to improve the handling a bit

The exhaust fitted

and a Bora vent loom made for the recently purchased vents made by my good self

I fitted some Audi TT pedal covers and while I was there I thought it would be nice to fit the matching dead pedal as well as the standard plastic one fitted in the Golf is a bit boring.

This is how I did it...I drilled a hole into the Golf dead pedal and cut a slot into it for the locating tab.

The TT pedal has locating tabs down one side but I only needed one so the others were ground off to give a cleaner look

then all bolted together and looks like this

and fitted, like this

looks spot on now and really updates it without being too OTT

I also fitted some tacho rings

The column pod was rubbing on the back of the steering wheel so I modified this slightly...

I cut out this section...

so it would sit like this...

My exhaust was knocking a bit so I invested in an R32 dog bone mount, which made it feel like a new car!

I made sure all the lights worked in the Bora vents before fitting

The tacho rings and the pod fitted along with the Newsouth gauge

I bought some S3 upper and lower strut braces from the local stealers

Bora vents fitted

A k03s turned up on ebay for the right price so I've stashed it away in the shed for a later date

right where were we...

Next up were a set of aero wipers front and rear

Rear was a combination of a Sharan blade with a Polo arm

and now...

then the fronts were the retro fit aero blades as opposed to the whole arm conversion

and now...

I then ordered my HID kit for fitting at a later date...

and prepped the bits I could ready for fitting

I starting prepping the parts for the HIDs and had a quick test fit in my old headlights...

First of all I had to drill a 25mm hole in the back plate of the headlight to allow the wiring to pass through

then thread the wiring through and push the grommet into place (this seals the light again and will stop any condensation getting in, once they are fitted properly I'll use some silicone as well)

then connect the wiring from the original harness to the ballast, then back to the HID blub

and then refit the cover making sure all the wires are free and don't get crushed

Some Beetle Sport door pins to tart the interior up after seeing them in my mates Beetle

and a steering wheel from a Skoda Octavia VRS, which I don't have a pic of for some reason

I ordered this handbrake lever cover but I didn't realise it wasn't a genuine item. But as I had it I wasn't going to waste it so I put it aside for fitting another day

My MOT told me my brakes were shot so this was an ideal opportunity to upgrade to 312mm discs. I found some bargain Mintex front discs and pads on ebay so these were purchased and stored away

then on to the strut braces...

3x8mm holes on each

then a quick test fit to make sure I'd drilled the holes in the right place

then I painted the bare metal in the holes with a touch up pen. I did this twice to make sure it was all covered

The bolts/washers/nuts I used

While I was there I thought I'd fit the bottom brace, what an absolute nightmare of a job

Anyways I got it fitted after nearly 2 hours of fun

and I also fitted a bit of black silicone pipe rather than the blue rubber thing that was on there

the strut brace finally fitted in place, bit of a mission on my own trying to feel under the arch and tighted the nuts at the same time...

The whiteline adjustable ARB turned up along with the 312mm carriers
