I was wondering about tinting my rear LED's on my 2015 GTi but only to the extent that Golf R rear lights are tinted. Are R rears a straight fit or is there any tinting film that would reproduce the same look you guys have tried. Tinting spray in my experience makes a mess of them. thanks.

Watts might be able to help you with this.

Thanks Jim
golf nutter, I had R rear lights on my PP. They are an easy straight swap. I still have them and they are going spare if you are interested. Some piccies to whet your appetite...

Definitely something i might go for...however just showed my wife who screwed her nose up!! That will be a no then. Might have a look at some Laminx which would be cheaper and reversible which she might agree with. Thanks for the photos cos i onow that i like the tinted ones.

The first rule of GTI owner and adding mods. Only show your wife, when the item has been fitted, and only if she mentions it first!
-
Just don't ever mention it, they won't even notice!
-
Doh! will do better next time!
has anyone had a go with Laminx at all?

The tints won’t be a patch on OEM R tails.
You’ll barely lose any money if any at all buying Watts‘ set then selling them on again when you change cars.
(That’s not the first time I’ve said that!)

In case colour makes a difference, here is a comparison on a limestone grey car...

Off topic I know, but really like the BBS alloys.

Whenever I looked at the car, the Austins were the one thing I never really liked. It was a combination of them being diamond cut and the offset which didn't fill the arches width ways too well. Since this photo was taken I've had the car lowered on Eibach Pro springs and replaced the BBS centre caps with red ones, I think they really finish the look off....
...back on topic... as do the lights

Looks very nice, definitely like the darker lights on the Mk7.

Agree with this. Get them bought and resell at later date or sell your originals to recoup some of the money straight away.

definitely prefer the darker lights...will have to give it some thought. thanks guys

As a bump of part of the original question - has anyone had experience with any tinting film in particular?
