My Dyno Graph (Golf GTI Mk6 DSG - Bluefin)
« on: 20 March 2014, 21:41 »
Had my car on the dyno today. Did a few runs with the bluefin on (been on for a month) then a few runs with standard map on. Good gains across the range however as you can see on the 1st graph there was no peak HP gain!? The second graph shows a graph with 230hp, this is the most he could get. So at most a peak of 7hp?
Ive emailed superchips. The torque gain is good , certainly feels quicker. Superchips website shows a peak gain of 25bhp. i know its only pub figures and an improved HP and torque can be seen, just suprised no peak HP gain.
Any opinions? Im running no mods just bluefin using V-Power. Great company by the way (motorsport developments) Loads of graphs and a HD video of it on the rollers. Said was running a tad rich and could be leaned out a little)

Seems low to me, you say their website says gains of 25hp but I've just looked and they say gains of 44hp!

Hope they can help sort it.

Thats not very good ! but.. you have gained 40hp and 45ftlb at 3750 Rpm so probably does feel noticeably quicker !!

Yes it's quick! The gains tie in with superchips just not the peak power gain.

what does the power feel like now ? does it feel like an increase to the standard power in the same areas of the revs or does it pull less at higher revs ? was thinking about a revo stage 1 for mine but still undecided..

Power feels great to be honest. The gains through the rev range are what superchips quote. Just they seem to tail off at the top end. More power through out rev range though. Like standard but more of it.

Superchips are quite tricky with their advertising and I'd suspect without looking they will advertise max power gains and not peak power gains.

Max power gain = the maximum difference in power between stock and mapped ANYWHERE in the rpm range

Peak power gain = the difference in peak power over stock.

Having said that I would have expected more than a 7bhp peak power gain from any map!

Without typing out a sarcastic reply

Put it this way. Does the car feel quicker on the road?
Forget peak BHP gains, unless you rev to 6k+ RPM everywhere?

A fatter and wider torque curve is what you want.

You are quite right! And yes it feels quicker on the road. I've emailed superchips just to see if they have any idea why. He seemed to suggest an electronic restriction of some kind maybe high inlet temps. But they were 13 deg all the way through.

I thought I read somewhere on another forum maybe that there has been a lot of confusion with bluefin supplying the wrong map for mk6 gti's and people complaining that the car hasn't gained much power, bluefin then supply another map which makes a large difference...
