just wondered what peeps thought about having a golfgti car of the month. maybe a nice pic on the front page with a write up by the owner. maybe jv could start us off (cos he obviously has loads of spare time ;)) and we could build up a data base of members rides. what do ya think??? :D

i never ment it to be anything hard work, just for the mods to maybe pick their fave car on the forum (or even their own) and ask the owner to send them the background, future ideas and some pictures. :)
I think owners would be really chuffed about having their car rewarded with a front page showing and maybe encourage people to give ideas and knowledge throughout the forum so that the mods know what each owner is upto and also encourage the friendly forum we know and love ;D

yeah good idea, i vote tvr golf for car of the month when its done, as its different to what every one else semms to be doing(yawn,yawn,yawn!!!) and will be a seriously featured car when its done, lets get in there and get it first!!!!

i dont think it should be open to a public vote as it seems to me there is some serious rigging going on on the site when it wants, i think you should check isp adresses and see how many peeps have registered a few times and ask the question why!!!!!!!!!!

IMO think it should be just "golf gti's".
tvr would be an awesome feature, might help launch him into a mag too..
would be nice if we could vote for the features, but i can see why it might not be a good idea too

not nice that, thats one of the reasons im ditching moderator status soon, im fed up with all this stuff, so any member reading this who hasnt got a 'golfgti' may read this and take offence once again, so i take it the mk vs mk war is now spreading into 'gti' vs 'any thing else' ..............
i am so fed up of this, people who are up there own @rse.

i made a post a while back because i was curious about other peoples opinions on the matter, and understand the points made there.. so its done and dusted.
but on having non-gti's as feature cars, unless its something super special like tvr golf's project then i think most people will agree they dont belong there.. we gonna have an sri, or type-r project car up there? cmon! theres gotta be a line somewhere.

So you could have:
Polo GTI's
Lupo GTI's
Bora PD150's
Or if its only Golf's:
Mk3 2.0 Avantgarde
Mk2 1.8 Driver
Mk4 1.6 Match
etc

yes they're welcome to post. but that doesn't mean they should be feature cars.

Having Car of the month in my eyes is a very good idea.
For me this forum is a Golf GTi forum.. :) However maybe JV could also link to Non-Golf Gti Car of the month too? Just a diplomatic thought?

I think the car of the month is a great idea. In terms of who it should be open too, like others, I have my own view!
I think it should be open to anyone who uses the site on a regular basis, regardless of the car they drive. We have many non-GTi members, drivers of VR6, R32, modified CL's, TVR Golf etc) and it would be unfair to exclude these models.
In terms of future models. the GTi brand is undergoing an evolution at present, and the MK5 is likely to stretch it further - we are going to be seeing 'R' and 'S' spec perfomance models, as well as the traditional GTi models. By making the car of the month GTi only, you'll be excluding a big portion of future performance models, which I don't think is right.
I perosnally have a big interest in all cars, not just the golf GTi, so if one of our fellow members is running a Polo GTi with a supercharged VR6 lump under the bonnet, I would like to see it featured so I can read about it and drool over the photos!
I know what everyone's fears of non-GTi cars being potentially featured are - Badly modified base models, or cars that are going to stimulate no interest in 90% of the forum members due to a total lack of application to our site. BUT! give the people will potentially be picking the cars the benefit of the doubt - They simply won't feature a car that wouldn't interest the majority or 'cut the mustard' so to speak.
Just my views ;)

reet then. have cleaned up the features section of the main website and started including 'feature cars'. the first 2 have been on the site a while but i have just added a couple more. yeah feature car 4 is a jetta/vento but that's basically a golf :P and the quality of his pics were too good not to use!
want your car on there? send some really good pictures and a proper spec list to me :) then people can b!tch about what appears :P

yas never knows, pesonally i think all active members should be put in a random picker, then a month in advance a winne ris picked out then there chance for decent pics etc to be done and emailed to jv, just my thoughts gotta keep it 'real' as in real road going members cars WHAT EVER THE MODEL of volkswagen as long as they are mighty fine pics!!!
